THANK YOU FOR YOUR HEART GIFT!

John Kuchenthal, July 2024

A kind & caring man, with a deep passion for helping people discover their purpose, John was a career counsellor, drug/alcohol recovery instructor and educator. Trained in social/psychology, criminology and education, he was a pioneer in Vancouver’s Workplace Centre for Spiritual & Ethical Development, the co-founder of one of BC’s first alternative schools, and a pillar in the local alcohol/drug recovery movement.

We will miss our dear friend… for his smile & humour, his heart & spirit, and his deep compassion & love for each person he met.

Maggie Shepherd, April 2020

My friend and wife of 40 years. A mentor to her nieces and nephews. You made me a better person. It was a great journey filled with humour and joy. Thank you for proposing to me. You are now reunited with the earth, wind, water and fire. You are flying with the eagles.

Jeffrey Warren Batt (Chef Jeff), June 1, 2019

“With ultimate sadness we announce the passing of a son, a husband, a brother and a dear friend to all.  Jeff grew up in Burnaby and traveled throughout Europe after graduating Culinary School. Upon his return he quickly made his mark on the Vancouver food scene; eventually opening his own restaurant, The Portly Chef, in North Vancouver.  Jeff loved spending time with his family and friends; he was always the life of the party. He left us on May 27th, 2019 but will be in our hearts forever.”
